The Barcelona forward is available, as he is out of favor at the Camp Nou stadium club under Xavi.
According to Sport, Spurs and Barca are negotiating a loan deal for centre-half Clement Lenglet.
During those negotiations, Spurs also asked about Depay's availability.
Manager Antonio Conte may see him as the ideal backup to the likes of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min.
Depay is willing to leave this summer, with Barca seeking £17.2 million.
