Ben Davies admits he's now fully committed to Tottenham after manager Antonio Conte's arrival.
Davies has suffered in other ways during his time at Tottenham. He played just once in the Premier League under Nuno Espirito, part of the previous Spurs manager's "B-Team".
He considered his future at the club. Since Conte's arrival, he's hardly missed a kick and signed a new contract.
"I've played a lot of football and I feel like I've improved as a player and I really enjoy working under him," said Davies. "He is someone that makes it clear what he expects from you. And if you don't do that, he'll show you, and for me, that's the perfect way that I enjoy working.
"Given the fact that I wasn't playing [under Nuno], of course you're going to assess your situation. In reality, the space of time that Nuno was here is very small in football and you don't have time to think about other things.
"You just concentrate on your work every day and that's what I did. I stayed as fit as I could, even if I wasn't playing, hoping that I'd get that opportunity at some point. And that opportunity came when the new manager was there.
"Football is full of ups and downs and if you have to ride that wave then, mentally, it's is a very tough place to be even when you're doing well. You can't afford to get too high with it and vice versa when it's too low.
"Football is such a short career you can't afford to dwell on those difficult moments. For me, it was about knowing that I had to be ready for when that chance came and that mindset is probably what got me in a good place when Conte came in."
