Tottenham defender Emerson Royal has undergone surgery on his knee this week.
The 24-year-old suffered an injury while playing for Brazil during a friendly against Morocco.
The defender has impressed in recent weeks for Spurs, but will now miss most of the remainder of the season.
His father and manager, Emerson Zulu, stated per Evening Standard: "The surgery went well, it really was the meniscus.
Recovery is usually 3 to 6 weeks. But based on Royal's genetics, I believe he will recover soon.
"My company has a multidisciplinary team and through the Herclito Research and Analysis Center we carry out genetic tests on our players in a Spanish laboratory. On Monday he returns to England."
