Former Argentina international Jorge Burruchaga insists Tottenham defender Cristian Romero is far superior to Virgil van Dijk.
For many, Liverpool captain Van Dijk is the best defender in the world.
But Burruchaga said on Radio La Red: "They say Van Dijk and tell me he is the best defender in the world. Romero is 10 times more.
"If you look at the best defenders, they are not fast. And Cuti (Romero) has balance and speed. He's extraordinary."
Burruchaga's comments arrive a week after Argentina captain Leo Messi declared Romero the best defender in the world.
