Tottenham midfielder Dejan Kulusevski admits he was desperate to leave Juventus.

The Swede recalled the initial call he took about Tottenham's interest.

He told the Players' Tribune: "It had been six months since I started a match at Juventus.

"You feel terrible, because you gave your life to play this game, training as hard as you can, and you end up watching players playing in your position who aren't even wingers. Honestly, I felt embarrassed, even useless.

"Some people started to say that I wasn't good enough, that I was too slow. And it hits you 100%. It's normal, it's human. When you start to believe it, that's just the devil. I knew I had to run. One day I asked my agent to find me something because it was January 2022, a few days before the transfer window closed, and we were running out of time.

"Then he told me Tottenham were interested and I just asked when the next flight was."
