Tour agency director pleads not guilty to RM41,940 misappropriation

A tour agency director pleaded not guilty to misappropriating over RM41,000 from a client, with the court setting bail at RM2,500 and a March mention date.

SEREMBAN: A tour agency director has pleaded not guilty to a charge of misappropriating RM41,940.

Siti Fairuz Omar, 38, was charged at the Magistrate’s Court here with dishonestly misappropriating the money belonging to a 42-year-old man.

The alleged offence occurred at a premises in Jalan 2/3 SIGC, Paroi, between September 7 and November 19, 2025.

The charge was framed under Section 403 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of between six months and five years, whipping and a possible fine upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Nik Nur Aqilah Syarfa Nik Zaidi requested bail be set at RM6,000.

The accused, who was unrepresented, appealed for bail to be reduced to RM1,000, citing loss of income and the need to support her ailing mother.

Magistrate Nurul Saqinah Rosli allowed bail at RM2,500 with one surety.

The court fixed March 10 for case mention.
