LAHAD DATU: Tourist Information Centre will be built to meet the growing needs of tourists, according to District Officer Firuz Idzualdeen Mohd Dzul.

Firuz, who is also the Chairman of the Lahad Datu Tourism Action Council, said this at the closing ceremony of the Tourism Package Development Course: Pricing Strategies and Digital Marketing, recently.

He said the course is a positive step that would help tourism in the district.

He said various efforts are also being actively undertaken to develop and showcase the potential of the tourism industry in this district.

Firuz said among them are addressing several issues related to cleanliness, waste management, and the Palauh community.

He said in terms of security, the role of the Eastern Sabah Security Command (ESSCOM) has had a positive impact in ensuring that safety in the Lahad Datu area and ESS Zone is consistently maintained.

Joe Wong, President of the Lahad Datu Tourism Association, said efforts to develop the tourism industry in this district are very timely.

He said his organisation is currently preparing to receive tourists from Europe for marine-based tourism products.

He added that, besides Danum Valley and Tabin, the beautiful and unique waters of Lahad Datu have also become an attraction for tourists, including those from Europe.
