A viral video on social media platforms has sparked controversy among netizens regarding the travel experience of a foreign couple in Malaysia.

The video, posted on TikTok by content creators Claire and Peter, documents their journey from Penang to Langkawi, but their hygiene practices have caught the attention of viewers.

The couple admitted to not showering for three consecutive days while in Penang, citing the yellowish water in their hotel as the reason behind their drastic decision.

Despite acknowledging sweating in the hot and humid weather, they chose not to shower and even boarded buses and ferries to Langkawi, where they continued their tourist activities and stopped at fast food restaurants to eat.

The resharing of the video on social media platform X by user @sicklepissy sparked a storm of criticism and condemnation from netizens who found the couple's behavior repulsive.

@sicklepissy also criticized the couple's actions while slamming many locals who often idolize foreign couples because "their body odor smells better than Bangladeshi workers."

Furthermore, @sicklepissy and other social media users offered alternatives to the couple, such as buying bottled water for bathing or finding alternative accommodation with better water quality.

The couple's decision to lie on the bed without showering for three days upon arriving in Langkawi further highlighted their unhygienic behaviour.

It is understood that the TikTok video, which garnered millions of views, with the majority of viewers being Malaysians, was uploaded last year.

Despite the controversy surrounding their hygiene practices, Claire and Peter enjoyed their time in Malaysia, creating several videos throughout their visit to the country.
