A WHITE Perodua Viva was caught on dashcam footage spinning out of control before crashing into another vehicle on the Kuala Lumpur-Karak Highway, prompting discussion among social media users.

The footage, recorded by a passing motorist, was shared on Threads by user @miku.who.

The video shows the Viva approaching from behind before suddenly losing control and spinning across several lanes. It then veers towards the left lane before spinning again and colliding with another vehicle in the right lane.

The post’s author shared the footage for those involved in the incident, writing: “Here is the footage from the KL-Karak Highway for anyone involved who needs it. I hope everything goes smoothly for them.”

However, the presence of a tow truck near the scene also caught the attention of social media users, prompting speculation about whether it was merely a coincidence.

One user, @tashakifli, claimed to have encountered a similar situation before, commenting in Malay: “Sometimes they deliberately stage accidents, then suddenly a tow truck appears. I experienced something similar near Pandan Safari.”

Another user questioned whether the crash could have been caused by slippery road conditions or a sharp object on the road, while also pointing to the tow truck’s presence.

Meanwhile, Threads user @m.faizwan_ urged motorists involved in accidents or experiencing vehicle breakdowns to contact their insurance providers for assistance rather than accepting help from unauthorised towing operators.

“As a reminder, if you get into an accident or your car breaks down, call your insurance company instead of just accepting help from any tow truck operator. Otherwise, you might as well not pay for insurance. A friend of mine had this happen to him and was charged RM500 for a tow of less than 2km before he could get his car keys back,” the user wrote.

The circumstances surrounding the Viva’s crash and the tow truck’s presence have not been independently verified. The social media comments do not establish that the accident was deliberately staged.
