Kota Kinabalu: More than 1,500 people attended the launch of the Healthy Sabah State Level programme at the, Likas Sports Complex.

Community Development and People’s Wellbeing Minister Datuk James Ratib said the programme emphasises a healthy lifestyle through comprehensive health care, focusing on physical, mental, and spiritual well-being.

“This programme will be a monthly special activity for all ministries and departments throughout Sabah, organised by the Ministry of Community Development and People’s Wellbeing (KPMKR) in collaboration with the Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry (KBSS).

“One of the objectives is to introduce an exercise dance with a special pattern for all Sabahans that can be used in all districts and ministries, encouraging people to adopt health-promoting practices and lifestyles,” he told the media after the launch of the programme, Saturday.

Read more The Healthy Sabah Programme was a collaboration between KPMKR and KBSS, launched simultaneously in six zones throughout the State: Kota Kinabalu, Tawau, Sandakan, Keningau, Beaufort and Kudat.

James said the government is concerned with the public’s health, which is still at an unsatisfactory level, and has taken the initiative to offer free health screening scheme throughout the State.

“Various activities and programs were implemented, including the free Health Check-up Assistance Scheme, which is carried out in all districts for the people of Sabah under KPMKR,” he said.

The Healthy Sabah Programme features various interesting events, including exhibitions, health screenings, fitness challenge games, charity sales, blood donations, healthy eating promotions and the 300K Step Challenge for Healthy Sabah.

Also present were Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Ellron Angin, Youth and Sports Assistant Minister Datuk Fairuz Renddan, Community Development and People’s Welfare Assistant Minister Datuk Flovia Ng, Sabah Youth and Sports Ministry Permanent Secretary Datuk Mansur Asun and Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development and People’s Welfare Maria Chong.
