Networking gear manufacturer TP-Link is teaming up with local private higher education institution New Era University College to give students more hands-on experience with enterprise networking, including access to its Omada networking solutions and professional certification.

The three-year partnership, formalised through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), will see TP-Link Distribution Malaysia Sdn Bhd deploy its Omada enterprise networking solutions within the university’s learning environment. This will allow students to work with networking infrastructure similar to what they may encounter in business environments.

Students will also get access to technical workshops, knowledge-sharing sessions and the Omada Certified Network Administrator (OCNA) certification pathway. TP-Link Malaysia will additionally provide industrial training and internship opportunities, giving students a potential pathway into the technology industry.

“As organisations continue to accelerate their digital transformation efforts, the demand for professionals with the ability to support and manage modern technology infrastructure continues to grow. Developing this talent requires closer collaboration between industry and academia to ensure students are equipped with knowledge that is aligned with real-world needs.

Through our partnership with New Era University College, we aim to contribute our industry expertise and provide students with meaningful exposure to enterprise technologies and practices,” – Cai Zhenbio, TP-Link Malaysia Regional Director

New Era University College’s Dead of the Faculty of Computing and Innovative Technology Asst. Prof. Dr. Ang Yang Yi added that through this collaboration with TP-Link Malaysia, they are able to improve and enhance on their students’ learning journey by connecting academic knowledge with practical applications and industry perspectives.

The two organisations will also explore opportunities for research initiatives, technical knowledge exchange and engagements between industry professionals and academics.

The partnership follows TP-Link Malaysia’s previous collaborations with Universiti Malaya (UM), Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) and Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia (USIM). According to TP-Link, around 500 students took part in its OCNA certification pathway across participating institutions in 2025.
