
The foreign trade deficit of Cyprus increased in April from a year ago as imports grew faster than exports, preliminary data from the statistical office showed on Tuesday.
The goods trade deficit rose to €1 billion ($1.16 billion) from €797.1 million in the same month last year. In March, the shortfall was €705 million.
Total exports of goods rose 7.6% annually in April, while imports logged a double-digit growth of 15.1%. During the January to April period, the trade deficit was €3.1 billion, up from €2.7 billion in the corresponding period last year.
