KUALA LUMPUR, July 24 — Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil has expressed serious concern over traditional crimes moving into cyberspace.

He said he was briefed on the matter this morning by National Security Council director-general Datuk Raja Nurshirwan Zainal Abidin and Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Shuhaily Mohd Zain.

“God willing, with the right measures, we will make the internet and social media safer for everyone,” Fahmi said in a Facebook post.

Earlier, he highlighted the need to consider new legislation to address online crime and keep up with rapid technological advancements.
