A tragic accident claimed the life of a seven year old boy when a cement slab from a three-story shophouse collapsed at Kompleks Al-Azim in Bukit Baru, late Monday night. The incident, which took place at approximately 10:15 PM, left the boy, who resided in Taman Bukit Baru Solok Bukit Pulau, with fatal injuries. Despite receiving emergency treatment in the red zone of Melaka Hospital, he succumbed to his injuries.

According to a report by Berita Harian, the child was rushed to the hospital immediately after the accident. Medical personnel performed CPR for a grueling 60 minutes, but despite their best efforts, the young boy was pronounced dead at 10:18 PM, just three minutes after the incident. The post-mortem conducted the next morning confirmed that the cause of death was severe trauma caused by the falling debris.

The Melaka Tengah district police chief, Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit, shared details of the event in an official statement. He revealed that a 34 year old Domino’s Pizza outlet manager reported the incident at the Bukit Baru police station. The report detailed that the boy, along with another child, an adult man, and six motorcycles, had been struck by falling debris from a cement wall above the Domino’s Pizza branch in Bukit Baru.

Three individuals, including the boy, were standing outside the Domino's Pizza outlet when part of the cement wall gave way and fell on them, said Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit during a press briefing. The victims included the seven year old boy, his five-year-old brother, and their 42 year old father. The family had just finished a quick visit to a nearby bank and was exiting the building when the accident occurred.

While the seven year old bore the brunt of the impact, resulting in severe injuries, his younger brother and father were fortunate to escape with minor injuries. Concerned bystanders quickly responded, rushing the child to the hospital for emergency medical attention.

The shocking nature of the accident has prompted deeper inquiries into the safety standards of the buildings in the area. Assistant Commissioner Christopher confirmed that the authorities have classified the case as a sudden death, and further investigations are ongoing to determine the exact cause of the structural failure. Investigators are expected to examine whether the building had undergone any recent maintenance or if there were pre-existing structural issues that could have led to the tragic collapse.

In the meantime, the community is left reeling from the unexpected loss of a young life. The accident has raised concerns over public safety, especially in high-traffic commercial areas such as Kompleks Al-Azim. Families and residents in Bukit Baru are now calling for stricter enforcement of building safety regulations to prevent similar tragedies from happening in the future.

As the investigation continues, the focus remains on ensuring that such a devastating event is never repeated. Authorities are urging anyone with additional information related to the incident to come forward to aid the ongoing investigation. The untimely death of this young boy has left a profound impact on the local community, with many expressing their condolences to the grieving family.
