This devastating incident occurred at KM115 on the south-bound lane of the expressway, casting a pall of sorrow over the area.
N. Shashitharan, a young man from Bahau, Negri Sembilan, was at the helm of a Perodua Bezza, navigating the Pagoh-Yong Peng stretch on the expressway when tragedy struck. His vehicle collided with the rear of a lorry, the force of impact hurling him out onto the road. In a cruel twist of fate, an express bus, traveling on the same route, became involved as well, resulting in fatal consequences for Shashitharan.
The sequence of events unfolded rapidly, leaving the lorry to swerve and skid to the left side of the expressway. Fortunately, the lorry driver, aged 48, escaped with minor injuries. Conversely, the young man's fate was tragically sealed, his life cut short in a heart-wrenching collision.
Miraculously, despite the intensity of the crash, the 25-year-old express bus driver and the 28 passengers onboard emerged physically unscathed. It was a stroke of luck amid an otherwise grim and harrowing scene.
Following this tragic incident, authorities swiftly moved to take the necessary steps. Shashitharan's body was transported to Hospital Sultan Ismail Nora for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the exact cause of death. Meanwhile, investigations, pursuant to Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, have commenced to establish the circumstances leading up to the collision.
