In Sungai Udang's Taman Indah, a grim discovery unfolded when a 14-year-old stumbled upon the lifeless body of an ex-commando, Muhammad Azwan Ishak, in a nearby pond. This unsettling incident occurred around 5:30 PM on a Saturday, November 18, catching the attention of authorities and sparking inquiries into the circumstances surrounding his demise.

Alor Gajah's Officer-in-Charge of Police District (OCPD), Supt Arshad Abu, recounted that the teenager had ventured to the pond for a fishing excursion, only to stumble upon the tragic scene. Promptly, the young boy and his father reported the discovery to the Masjid Tanah police station, triggering a chain of investigations into the untimely death.

Identified as a 42-year-old individual hailing from Felda Keratong, Pahang, Muhammad Azwan Ishak was affiliated with the Terendak Army Camp at Sungai Udang, stationed there until his recent resignation. Shedding light on the events preceding the discovery, Supt Arshad mentioned that the victim, a divorcee, had made a call to his ex-wife at 9 PM the previous evening, Friday, November 17. However, attempts to reach him thereafter proved futile, raising concerns about his whereabouts.

Upon contacting the ex-wife, she informed the authorities that there had been no indication of any prevailing health issues afflicting the victim. This revelation added a layer of mystery to the circumstances surrounding his sudden and tragic demise.

The retrieval of Muhammad Azwan Ishak's body from the pond required the assistance of local firefighters. Subsequently, the body underwent a thorough post-mortem examination at Melaka Hospital, ultimately confirming the cause of death as drowning, shedding some light on the unfortunate incident.

In the wake of this distressing discovery, law enforcement officials have categorized the case as a sudden death report, prompting further investigation into the events leading up to the ex-commando's untimely demise. The perplexing nature of the situation has raised questions and intensified efforts to uncover any underlying factors contributing to this tragic turn of events.

This unforeseen loss has not only left authorities puzzled but has also cast a somber mood over the community, eliciting heartfelt condolences and sparking discussions about the importance of vigilance and timely intervention in such circumstances. As investigations progress, the quest for answers continues, seeking closure for the grieving loved ones and the community at large.
