The heartbreaking tragedy that unfolded last Tuesday at Shah Alam Hospital has left a community in sorrow after a five-year-old girl lost her life under distressing circumstances. The incident occurred when the child was found unconscious in her mother's car, parked near the hospital's back entrance. The Shah Alam District Police Chief, ACP Mohd Iqbal Ibrahim, reported that a medical officer at the hospital alerted authorities to the incident at 8:01 pm on the same day.

The investigation revealed a sequence of events that unfolded tragically. The child's mother, a 34-year-old hospital employee, inadvertently left her daughter in the car after picking her up from a nearby nursery around 2 pm. Unaware of the situation, the mother returned to work, leaving the child asleep in the car with the engine turned off. The gravity of the situation became apparent only at 6 pm when the mother received a call from her husband.

Efforts to revive the unconscious child were made as she was rushed to the Shah Alam Hospital Emergency Department. Despite the attempts, the little girl was pronounced dead, casting a somber atmosphere over the hospital and the surrounding community. A subsequent post-mortem examination revealed no external or internal injuries on the child.

In response to this tragic incident, authorities are handling the case under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act. Inspector Syer Aidid is spearheading the investigation, urging anyone with information to come forward at 013-6544996.

This heartbreaking occurrence serves as a poignant reminder of the importance of vigilance and awareness, especially in environments where oversight can lead to devastating consequences. The community is grappling with the loss of a young life, emphasizing the fragility of life and the critical need for constant attention to ensure the safety and well-being of our loved ones. As condolences pour in for the grieving family, the incident underscores the significance of collective responsibility in safeguarding the vulnerable members of our society.
