A mother has been placed under remand for a period of seven days to assist authorities in investigating the alleged murder of her 18-month-old son. Magistrate Suhaili Sapun at Permai Hospital, Tampoi issued the remand order until March 23 in connection with this tragic incident. Reports suggest that the toddler was found with his neck slit in an incident that occurred in a residential area in Pasir Gudang the day prior.

According to Johor police chief CP M. Kumar, the distressing event unfolded around 1:30 pm. Initial investigations revealed that the 32-year-old woman purportedly sent a photo of the child covered in blood to her husband via WhatsApp. Additionally, a knife believed to have been used in the incident was discovered at the scene.

The victim's body has been transferred to Sultan Ismail Hospital (HSI) for a thorough autopsy, while authorities continue to probe the motive behind this heartbreaking occurrence. The case is currently under investigation under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

In a separate development, CP M. Kumar disclosed that five local men, aged between 35 and 48, have been apprehended to assist in another investigation. This pertains to the discovery of the body of a 61-year-old man, who was found with slash wounds across various parts of his body in Taman Rinting, Masai, at 10:50 am on the same day.

The police have seized several belongings belonging to the victim and have collected sample swabs from the scene for further analysis. Notably, all suspects have prior criminal and drug-related records. The victim's body has been sent to HSI for a post-mortem examination, and the case is being investigated under Section 302 of the Penal Code.

These distressing incidents underscore the importance of swift and thorough investigations to ensure justice for the victims and their families, as well as to maintain the safety and security of communities. Authorities continue to work diligently to uncover the truth and bring those responsible to account for their actions.
