Trail mix brand recalled over undeclared allergens

  • Ferris Coffee & Nut Co. has recalled a single lot of Frederik's by Meijer Vanilla Bourbon Trail Mix due to undeclared wheat and soy, posing a serious allergic reaction risk for individuals with these allergies.
  • The recall was initiated after chocolate-covered pretzel balls containing wheat and soy were mistakenly placed in the trail mix bags instead of the listed bourbon-flavored caramels.
  • An investigation revealed the problem was caused by a temporary breakdown in the production and packaging processes at Ferris Coffee & Nut Co., leading to a suspension of the trail mix's production.
  • The affected nine-ounce black bags, identifiable by lot number 6069-1 and an expiration date of December 10, 2026, were distributed to Meijer stores in Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin.
  • Consumers are urged to immediately discard the recalled snack or return it to the place of purchase for a full refund, although no illnesses have been reported to date.
