RANAU: A trailer hauling seven Proton Sagas plunged into a 17-metre gorge, barely hitting a home in Jalan Ranau-Sandakan on Friday morning.

Ranau Fire and Rescue Department Chief, Ridwan Mohd Taib, said the incident happened in Kg Nabutan Ranau at about 11.40am.

“We received a call about the incident at 11.46am and six personnel led by Operation Commander PBK II Wasli bin Saupin rushed to the scene in an FRT fire engine.

“Upon arriving at the scene located 30km away from the station, a trailer carrying seven Proton Sagas had skidded and plunged from a height of 50 feet.“A house was damaged after being hit by a tree.

The lorry driver is not injured. The operation was terminated at 12.50pm,” he said.

Meanwhile, he called on all motorists to be extra careful when driving across the district, especially on narrow and winding village roads.
