KUALA LUMPUR, May 20 — One person was killed and four others were injured in a crash involving a trailer, a lowloader and a multi-purpose vehicle (MPV) at Km 366 of the North-South Expressway late last night.

The accident took place at about 10.30pm between Sungkai and Slim River, according to Muallim district deputy police chief Deputy Superintendent Suhaimi Muhamad.

According to the New Straits Times, he said the deceased was the driver of the trailer, which had been carrying limestone from Simpang Pulai, Ipoh.

Four others sustained injuries and were given initial medical attention at the scene, though their current conditions have not been made public.

Suhaimi said police have launched an investigation into the cause of the incident and will release a full report upon its completion.

The accident reportedly caused traffic to back 12 kilometres of the highway.
