PAPAR: A 42-year-old man sustained minor injuries while three others escaped unscathed after a train crashed into their stalled car on the level crossing along Km M21.5, Jalan Perumahan Kampung Anak Kinarut, here, on Wednesday.

District Police Chief DSP Kamaruddin Ambo Sakka said initial investigations showed the train, which was heading to Beaufort from the Sembulan station, crashed into the Perodua Rusa that had made a sudden stop on the train track crossing.

Upon seeing the idle car on the track, he said the train operator horned as it was nearing the crossing to notify the vehicle while at the same time attempting to brake.

“The train operator only noticed the car’s presence on the track some 20 metres away which led to the collision due to the short distance.
