PETALING JAYA: A training aircraft operated by the Malaysian Flying Academy (MFA) made a forced landing near a factory in Jasin, Melaka, today.

Civil Aviation Authority of Malaysia (CAAM) chief executive officer Norazman Mahmud said an instructor and a student were on board the aircraft, which was believed to have suffered a mechanical malfunction.

“No casualties were reported,” he said.

Norazman said the Piper PA-28-181 9MSKJ aircraft requested the air traffic control tower to make a priority landing at Melaka International Airport, but made a forced landing near the Xinyi Energy Smart Factory in Jasin at 11.05am.

A safety investigation will be conducted by the air accident investigation bureau under the transport ministry in accordance with the Civil Aviation Regulations 2016, he added.
