Jammu and Kashmir Police in South Kashmir’s Tral have registered a case against a Special Police Officer (SPO) for allegedly cheating people on the pretext of arranging engagements in the Police Department as SPOs.
The accused has been identified as Inder Paul Singha, a resident of Saimoh Tral.
According to a statement, a complaint lodged at Police Station Tral alleged that the accused collected money from the complainant by falsely claiming it was required to facilitate engagement through official channels.
However, despite receiving the money, the accused neither secured the promised engagement nor refunded the amount despite repeated demands, the complainant alleged.
The complaint further stated that the accused had issued fake and forged appointment-related documents to the complainant as well as several other individuals.
Accordingly, Police Station Tral registered an FIR under Section 318(4) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), and an investigation has been initiated.
During the preliminary inquiry, investigators also found that the accused had allegedly obtained substantial sums of money from multiple individuals on the false promise of securing jobs as SPOs in the Police Department.
Departmental proceedings have also been initiated against the official concerned.
