Eberechi Eze has completed his dream move to Arsenal after the Gunners dramatically swooped to beat rivals Tottenham to his signature.

Arsenal have announced a transfer worth £60m and £7.5m in add-ons – pretty much exactly Eze’s release clause - and the boyhood Gunners fan was unveiled at the Emirates before the Premier League match against Leeds. Eze, who has signed a four-year contract and will wear the No 10 shirt, may make his debut against Liverpool next week. Spurs, meanwhile, are now in a late scramble for a new attacker as the deadline looms.

Alexander Isak’s explosive statement this week accused Newcastle of “broken promises” and “lost trust”, with Liverpool still strongly linked with a move for the Swedish striker. The Reds’ offer of £110m fell short of Newcastle’s valuation and Eddie Howe described Isak’s statement as a “sad moment”.

Elsewhere, Manchester United continue to endure frustration with their goalkeeper situation, and will consider signing Senne Lammens from Belgian side Antwerp, although Manchester City have also been linked with the 23-year-old. Striker Rasmus Hojlund could be on his way to Napoli.

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot has refused to be drawn on the club’s position regarding Alexander Isak.

It adds extra spice for when the two teams meet at St James’ Park on Monday, with Isak expected to absent again as he continues to train away from the squad.

“I don’t think (it will be a busy end to the window) because (that would mean) I would be unhappy with the squad and I am happy with the squad.

“I say two players for each positions is ideal, but sometimes less is more so you are not disappointing players.”

Marco Silva says Fulham "cannot be pleased at all" with their summer transfer business.

The Cottagers have had a quiet summer with Montpellier goalkeeper Benjamin Lecomte the sole arrival on a two-year deal.

It has led to Fulham boss Silva becoming increasingly frustrated ahead of Manchester United's Premier League visit to Craven Cottage on Sunday.

"How we should feel as a club?" Silva said at his pre-match press conference.

"At this stage of last season, we had two to three players in. This season, we had a plan, the plan has fallen through.

"It's our fault, not active at all. We cannot be pleased at all."

Will Castle

Arsenal have unveiled Eberechi Eze to the Emirates Stadium faithful ahead of their Premier League meeting with Leeds after confirming the arrival of their new signing.

Eze moves from Crystal Palace for a believed fee of £60m plus £7.5m in add-ons and becomes the club’s seventh recruit of the summer, joining fellow high-profile acquistions Viktor Gyokeres and Martin Zubimendi through the door.

Arsenal acted quickly to secure Eze after news of Kai Havertz’s knee injury, which left the club short in midfield.

The 27-year-old, a former Arsenal youth player and lifelong supporter of the club, chose a switch to the Emirates over a move to Tottenham Hotspur.

Eberechi Eze completes dream Arsenal move

17:14

,

Jamie Braidwood

Eberechi Eze has completed his dream move to boyhood club Arsenal in a transfer which could be worth as much as £68m

Eze becomes Arsenal's seventh signing of the summer and catapults their spending spree to £250m. The England international has agreed a four-year deal and will wear the number 10 shirt.

Tottenham had been set to capture Eze after they reached an agreement with Crystal Palace on Wednesday, until Mikel Arteta's side swooped in to hijack the transfer.

Arsenal's ruthless move - for an initial fee of £60m prior to performance related add-ons - to stump their rivals has drawn parallels with ex-Spurs captain Sol Campbell's controversial switch on a free transfer to the Gunners in 2001.

The deal for the 27-year-old was announced 30 minutes prior to Arsenal's first Premier League home game of the season, against Leeds

Jamie Braidwood

“We are absolutely delighted to bring Eberechi to Arsenal. He is a powerful and exciting player who will give us a new dimension in our attacking game. What stands out just as much as his talent and intelligence as a player, is the way he has worked hard throughout his career to get where he is today.

“His journey, his mentality, and his ambition are exactly what we want in our team, and we love how much it means to him and his family to be joining our club. We all look forward to start working with Eberechi soon.”

Fabian Hurzeler is hopeful Brighton will still be active during the rest of the transfer window, but is content with his forward options before Sunday's trip to Everton.

The same duo are likely to be required at Everton as 18-year-old Kostoulas is handled with care, but Hurzeler is not pushing chairman Tony Bloom for new additions.

Mikel Arteta says Arsenal’s move for Eberechi Eze move is not a reaction to Kai Havertz injury

09:33

,

Jamie Braidwood

Mikel Arteta has asserted that Arsenal’s impending £60 million acquisition of Eberechi Eze is not a knee-jerk reaction to Kai Havertz’s recent knee injury.

News of Havertz’s injury reportedly accelerated Arsenal’s pursuit of Eze, with the deal for the Crystal Palace star set to take their summer spending to an eye-watering £250 million. Eze is understood to have undergone his medical on Friday, with his transfer to the north London club potentially finalised this weekend.

While Arteta stopped short of confirming Eze’s arrival, he firmly denied that the club’s recent transfer activity was a direct response to Havertz’s setback.

Eberechi Eze’s imminent £60million arrival from Crystal Palace will take Arsenal’s spending spree to £250m amid a summer of transformation at the Emirates.

Eze, who it is understood underwent a medical at Arsenal on Friday, is set to become the club’s seventh new arrival with competition for places now fierce across the pitch.

And when asked if he is now armed with the most complete squad of his near seven-year tenure, Arteta replied: “In terms of numbers and quality, yes for sure.

“When you shake the tree and bring in more players there are always things that can happen.”

Miguel Delaney

“You can write what you want, at any time,” Graham Potter said, when asked if this is already a relegation battle. He admitted he “knows his responsibilities” when asked about his future.

From that, you could of course write at least some of the good from this 5-1 – like Joao Pedro’s supreme impact and how Chelsea might have now started a proper challenge.

Except, it’s impossible not to get away from the bad. And this was very bad from West Ham United, to the point that Potter looks in immediate danger. Might he even be gone before Nuno Espirito Santo? Could the Nottingham Forest manager replace him, given issues there?
