Van de Ven nears Spurs extension

Van de Ven’s current contract runs until 2029 and is entering his fourth season at the club.

United have managed to secure a pretty hefty fee of up to £14m from a second-tier side and have also inserted a buy-back clause into the deal, along with matching rights and a 35 per cent sell-on clause to profit from any potential future sale.
The 22-year-old impressed on loan at Bristol City in the Championship last season.

The Spanish club have an option to buy the Turkey international, reportedly for a fee of £3.5m, which would give United a high sell-on clause on top of that.

Saturday 8 August 2026 12:25 , Luke BakerRoss Wilson, Newcastle’s sporting director, has revealed that Bruno Guimaraes expressed his desire to leave the club – providing little choice as they granted him a switch to Arsenal.
"What we had to weigh up was, very respectfully from Bruno with his behaviour towards us, very emotionally as well, he effectively told us he wanted to leave and move on," he said.
"That doesn't mean he can go, but it certainly plays a part in what our thinking is when we hit a certain range of number.
"There's no part in saying it was part of our strategy and was in our thinking this summer - it wasn't.
"But we have got to be flexible and react to things that happen."

The Merseyside club are looking to complete a loan with an option to buy the Uruguay international.
The 27-year-old former Barcelona captain is set to become Andoni Iraola’s second signing at Anfield, after winger Victor Munoz.
Araujo, primarily a central defender but who can also play right-back, will help give Iraola more strength in depth in both positions.
