
LAHAD DATU: The establishment of the Transit House (Parole Office) for the benefit of parolees in the district reflects the government’s commitment to assist marginalised individuals.
The Director of Prisons for Sabah and the Federal Territory of Labuan, Nora Musa, said the Transit House will facilitate parolees in accessing rehabilitation services and support their need directly.

She made these remarks during the key handover ceremony for the Lahad Datu Transit House/Parole Office between the Lahad Datu District Council and Public Works Department of Lahad Datu to the Director of Prisons for Sabah and Federal Territory of Labuan.
Advertisement (adsbygoogle = window.adsbygoogle || []).push({});According to Nora, the establishment of the Parole Office in the district is expected to support the operation of the Community-Based Rehabilitation (PDK) for the Lahad Datu Zone, compared to before, when it was under the supervision of the Tawau District Parole Office, including the districts of Semporna, Kunak, Kalabakan and Lahad Datu.
She said the Transit House serves as a resource centre that can provide skills training programmes, counselling sessions and community interaction activities.

“We are confident that this change will not only improve the lives of individuals but will also have a positive impact on the community as a whole,” she said.
Also present were Lahad Datu District Officer Firuz Idzualdeen @ Benetty Mohd Dzul, Prison Director of Lahad Datu PKK Kalbin Mohd Said, PP Wong Seng Siang and Prison Director of Tawau PKK Hasrul Anwar Hasim.
