KUALA LUMPUR: The Transport Ministry hopes to organise Transport Expo Asia (TXA) every two years, alternating with the Langkawi International Maritime and Aerospace Exhibition (LIMA), Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.
He said TXA was developed as a dedicated platform for the transportation sector to complement LIMA, which focuses more on the defence industry.
Loke said the exhibition brought together industry players and technology providers from the land, maritime and aviation sectors to showcase innovations and explore business opportunities.
“We hope TXA will become a biennial event organised by the Transport Ministry, alternating with LIMA.
“I brought a proposal to the Cabinet two years ago for the ministry to branch out from LIMA, leading to an inaugural TXA event on a smaller scale last year. Previously, the Transport Ministry co-organised LIMA, which focuses more on the defence sector. We felt there was a need for another exhibition specifically focused on transportation.
“This is the first time TXA is being held on such a large scale,” he said at a press conference after the launch of Transport Expo Asia 2026 (TXA 2026) here today.
He said the ministry had yet to set a specific economic impact target for the exhibition, as this was the first time it was being held on such a large scale.
Loke said several agreements, including memoranda of understanding (MoUs), were expected to be signed during the three-day event, potentially creating business opportunities for participating companies.
“We believe this exhibition is important in driving the development of the country’s transportation sector and ensuring that we continue to move forward by adopting modern technologies.
“Many advanced technologies are already being applied across different modes of transportation. Malaysia must not be left behind. We hope to drive this trend and introduce these technologies to local transport companies.
“I therefore encourage greater participation from the industry, as TXA is a trade exhibition,” he said.
Loke also encouraged more industry players, particularly logistics and freight companies, to visit the exhibition to explore the latest technologies. Members of the public were also welcome to attend, he added.
