BELURAN: Three rangers who were reported trapped in floodwaters for two days near Kampung Bidu-Bidu, here, are safe after managing to exit the area as the water levels receded slightly by using a hill path on Thursday.

The Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) in Mukim Nangoh, Telupid said upon receiving a report, three personnel along with a boat, were rushed to the location to assist the rangers.

Following the flooding, several Temporary Evacuation Centres (PPS) were opened in Telupid, with monitoring also conducted in Beluran and Kinabatangan.

Read more APM, along with the Social Welfare Department and other agencies, assisted victims placed in the PPS at Kampung Bauto, Dewan Orang Ramai Kampung Kiabau, Dewan Kampung Rancangan Nangoh, Balai Raya Kampung Maau and PPS Dewan Kampung Bambangan.

Telupid District Officer and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Committee, Celestine Jetony, officiated the opening of the PPS.

Flood monitoring was also carried out in Kampung Balaban and Kampung Muanad.
