MANILA, Philippines — This year’s Traslacion has made history: one for having the longest procession, breaking the 22-hour, 14-minute record in 2012; and second for failing to return to its home in Quiapo Church for still unknown reasons.

According to the Manila Public Information Office (MPIO) at 4 a.m. on Saturday, the andas (carriage) containing the image of the Nazarene reached San Sebastián Church for the traditional “Dungaw,” where the images of the Nazarene and the Our Lady of Mt. Carmel de San Sebastian met as part of "religious courtesy."

Fr. Ramon Jade Licuanan, rector of the Minor Basilica and National Shrine of Jesus Nazareno, was quoted by the Manila Public Information Office (PIO) as saying that the image would not return to its home at Quiapo Church for the meantime.

Around 300,000 have gathered for the “Dungaw” as the image made its way toward the Plaza del Carmen, according to the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The procession, which started at 4 a.m. on Friday, is ongoing as of posting time.
