Trial for Man Accused of Pregnant Girlfriend’s Murder to Begin October 27

The trial of a man charged with the murder of his pregnant girlfriend two years ago is scheduled to commence on October 27 at the High Court. This decision was made during a case mention held earlier today. Deputy Registrar Mohd Hirman Ab Raub announced the new trial dates, with the session attended by Deputy Public Prosecutor Farah Aqilah Ahmad Fuad and defense lawyer Nik Ahmad Burhan Nik Abdul Mubin, representing the accused, Muhammad Fakrul Aiman Sajali.

The court has set aside multiple dates for the trial proceedings, which are scheduled for October 27 to 31, November 3 to 7, and November 10 to 14. A final case management session is slated for September 8 to ensure readiness for the trial. The case had previously been scheduled to begin on February 23, 2026, but the new dates represent a significant advancement in the judicial process.

The 22-year-old accused, Muhammad Fakrul Aiman, faces charges under Section 302 of the Penal Code for the alleged murder of Nur Anisah Abdul Wahab, aged 21. The crime is said to have occurred between 8:30 p.m. on May 22 and 8:00 a.m. on May 23, 2023, at Jalan Sungai Limau. If convicted, Muhammad Fakrul Aiman faces the death penalty as prescribed by Malaysian law.

Reports from the time of the incident painted a grim picture of the events leading to the young woman’s death. According to media accounts, the victim, a restaurant waitress, was brutally attacked following a misunderstanding. She was reportedly stabbed, had her stomach slashed, and was set on fire in a palm oil plantation in Jalan Sungai Limau. The crime shocked the nation, with many expressing outrage over the heinous nature of the attack.

The prosecution is expected to present compelling evidence to support the charges, while the defense will argue its case during the trial. The court’s decision to expedite the trial process underscores the gravity of the case, ensuring that justice is pursued without unnecessary delays.

As the trial date approaches, public interest in the case remains high, given the tragic circumstances and the brutality of the alleged crime. Legal experts and observers will be closely monitoring the proceedings, as the outcome will not only deliver justice for the victim and her family but also serve as a significant legal precedent in cases involving violence against women.

The court’s decision to bring forward the trial date reflects a commitment to upholding justice in a timely manner, particularly in cases that involve such severe allegations.
