A murder investigation has been opened after a 28-year-old man was stabbed to death in an affluent area of central London.
Officers were called to Lloyd Baker Street in Clerkenwell, referred to as “millionaires’ row”, following reports of a stabbing late Wednesday evening.
Officers arriving with the London Ambulance Service found a man with stab wounds. The man was later identified as 28-year-old Reece Salmon.
Mr Salmon was taken to hospital, where he sadly died on Thursday, 17 September. His family are being supported by specially trained officers.
Paying tribute to the 28-year-old, his family said: “We are utterly devastated by this loss. Reece was a loving partner and son, and he leaves behind many friends and loved ones. It is impossible to put our loss into words.”
No arrests have been made, and officers are making urgent enquiries.
A Section 60 order has been authorised, granting officers enhanced powers to stop and search people and vehicles. This applies to the Caledonian Road, Clerkenwell and Hoxton areas.
"This is a tragic incident, and our thoughts remain with the family and friends of the young man who has lost his life,” said Chief Superintendent Jason Stewart.
“You can expect to see additional officers in the area providing visible reassurance and working with partners to keep the public safe. The victim was found in a residential street, and members of the public may have information of vital importance to our investigation. If you can help, please come forward,” Stewart continued.
