- Two of her siblings were also badly injured in the incident, which occurred on 30 July while Abbie was awaiting her GCSE results; the exact circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be confirmed.
- A GoFundMe page established by a family friend to support the family has raised more than £10,000.
- Tributes have been paid by her former performing arts school and cheerleading club, who described her as an “incredible young person” and dedicated athlete.
- The Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office confirmed it is providing consular support to the family.
