Trinidad remains AFP’s spokesman for West Philippine Sea

MANILA, Philippines — Rear Admiral Roy Vincent Trinidad will remain the spokesman of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) for the West Philippine Sea (WPS), after he retires from military service, the Philippine Navy said on Saturday.

“While Rear Admiral Trinidad formally retires from active military service, he will continue to serve as WPS’ mouthpiece as a naval reservist, in recognition of the value of his continued voice, and as a demonstration of his sustained service and credibility in communicating the Armed Forces’ position on maritime issues,” the Navy said in a statement.

Trinidad was honored during his retirement ceremony on Thursday in Taguig City, led by Philippine Navy Flag Officer in Command Vice Adm. Jose Ma. Ambrosio Ezpeleta.

“By underscoring what is right and what is true, he has contributed to bolstering public faith in our actions, as well as fortifying our country’s diplomatic messaging on the global stage,” Ezpeleta said.

Trinidad is a member of the Philippine Military Academy “Sambisig” Class of 1991.
