Trio admit having petrol without permit

SEMPORNA: Three men aged between 36 and 45 pleaded guilty in Tawau Session Court, Tuesday, for having petrol without a licence.

Razif Maek was fined of RM10,000 in default of six months’ jail, the second accused, Herman Hassan was fined of RM6,000 in default four months’ jail while the third accused, Kalding Jabi was sentenced to four months’ jail and ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence.

They were fined and jailed after they pleaded guilty pleaded before Session Court Judge Ahmad Faizadh Yahaya to the offense of dealing in 225 litres of petrol in nine jerrycans at retail or wholesale without a licence.

It was an offence under Section 20(1) of Control of Supplies Act 1961, punishable under Section 22(1) of the same Act, read together with Section 34 of the Penal Code.

Read more During the prosecution, Semporna Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry (KPDN) Chief Enforcement officer, Dr. Jong Jee Leong told the Court that three accused were detained by police at Kampung Sinallang Lama.

During the arrest, all three accused were found having the petrol in nine jerrycans which were placed on a four-wheel drive.

The accused were also found not having any licence or permit to own the controlled item.

Jong added that KPDN Semporna will not compromise with any activities involving the controlled items and will continue to increase enforcement to curb any illegal activities involving the controlled items.
