Tropical storm enters PH, named ‘Caloy’ — Pagasa

MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Saturday said the tropical storm near northeastern Mindanao has entered the Philippine Area of Responsibility (PAR) and was given the local name “Caloy.”

The weather bureau made the announcement on its Facebook page and urged the public to monitor for updates.

In its 11 a.m bulletin, Pagasa said the storm was moving over the Philippine Sea as it entered the PAR.

“[Caloy] is less likely to directly affect the weather and sea conditions in the next 48 hours,” the weather bureau said.

As of 3 p.m. on Saturday, the storm was 1,035 kilometers east of northeastern Mindanao with maximum sustained winds of 65 km per hour and gusts of up to 80 kph.
