KUNAK: Several vehicles were stranded along the gravel-lined Tingkayu Road in Kunak after a truck broke down in the middle of the main route, blocking both directions on Sunday.

Motorists struggled to navigate around the vehicle due to the road’s worsening condition, which includes potholes, uneven surfaces, and exposed rocks. A complainant described the situation as dangerous, citing the lack of maintenance.

Deputy Chief Minister III and Public Works Minister, Datuk Ir Shahelmey Yahya, said the issue is being reviewed and action will be taken promptly.

As of Sunday night, light vehicles were still unable to pass. A teacher from SK Ladang Binuang expressed concern as schools are set to reopen on Monday. Tingkayu Road is a key route to the school and nearby oil palm plantations.
