TRUCK makers in the country projected a positive outlook after hitting sales targets in 2025.
The Truck Manufacturers Association Inc. (TMA) of the Philippines on Monday reported it sold 6,783 units for category III trucks, 3,690 units for category IV trucks and buses, and 888 units for category V heavy-duty trucks.
Established in 1978, TMA is composed of major manufacturers, assemblers and importers of commercial vehicles, including trucks, buses and sport utility vehicles (SUVs).
“With sustained infrastructure development and vibrant economic activity, our member companies are well-prepared to meet the growing demand for reliable, efficient and innovative commercial vehicles that support the country’s development goals,” TMA President Robert Carlos said.
The figures were based on combined data from the TMA and the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines, Inc. (Campi), with overall sales levels maintained with 2024 levels.
It signaled a steady market as the industry adjusted to normalized demand and inventory conditions, while remaining supported by ongoing infrastructure projects and consistent economic activity nationwide, TMA said.
“This year, TMA will take a more active role in participating in government programs and initiatives, particularly those focused on road safety, environmental protection and possibilities to strengthen local truck manufacturing,” Carlos noted.
TMA reaffirmed its commitment to promoting road safety and accelerating the introduction of environmentally friendly trucks in the market.
The group said it will likewise continue supporting local body application manufacturing and local parts suppliers, while recognizing their vital role in strengthening the automotive value chain, supporting small and medium enterprises, and generating sustainable employment for Filipino workers.
Meanwhile, TMA also announced that Vicente Mills Jr. of Hino Motors Philippines Corp. will stay on as chairman emeritus.
