US President Donald Trump arrived in Beijing on Wednesday evening for a high-stakes visit to China.
The president landed at the capital’s airport aboard Air Force One. He was received by Vice President Han Zheng and welcomed by flag-waving youths chanting slogans, live television footage showed.
Trump was accompanied by his son Eric, as well as a delegation of senior business figures, including Tesla's Elon Musk and Apple's Tim Cook.
Trump is scheduled to meet Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday and is expected to return to the United States on Friday following the talks.
Discussions are likely to focus on the Iran conflict, as well as the paused tariff dispute and broader trade ties between the world’s two largest economies.
The 79-year-old last visited Beijing during his first term in 2017 and is the first US president to travel to China since then.
