- The slide was seen on the tarmac on the right side of the Qatari-gifted aircraft, opposite the side typically used for boarding.
- President Donald Trump was seated nearby aboard Marine One at the time, ahead of his flight to Dallas, Texas, for the Republican midterm convention.
- “They were doing a check on the slide,” Trump told reporters after being asked about the emergency slide. “They want to make sure everything works perfectly.”
- He was then asked if he was sure that Air Force One was safe to fly. “Yeah I am,” Trump replied. “Or I wouldn’t be on it.”
