US President Donald Trump has accused Iran of breaching the ceasefire agreement.

He wrote on the Truth Social platform on Friday that had Iran launched at least four drone attacks against ships in the Strait of Hormuz.

One of the drones struck a cargo ship, but the freighter was able to continue its journey despite the damage, he said, adding that the US military shot down the other three drones.

"Obviously, this is a foolish violation of our Ceasefire Agreement," Trump wrote.

He did not provide further details on exactly when the attacks were said to have taken place.

On Thursday, news emerged of an attack on a cargo ship in the Strait of Hormuz. The UK Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) reported that an "unknown projectile" had damaged the ship's bridge.

The incident, off the coast of Oman, occurred just a few hours after Iran's Revolutionary Guards had warned that passage was only safe on routes designated by Tehran.
