US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu clashed in a recent conversation over how to proceed with Iran, Axios and the Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday, citing unnamed sources.

The disagreement reportedly centred on differing views over a revised proposal aimed at ending the conflict with Iran. According to Axios, one source said Netanyahu was deeply agitated after the call on Tuesday, adding that his "hair was on fire" following the conversation.

Qatar and Pakistan, together with other partners, had presented an updated peace proposal designed to bridge differences between Washington and Tehran, the reports said.

Trump was quoted as saying that Netanyahu would "do whatever I want him to do."

After renewed threats against Iran in recent weeks, Trump said he would postpone a new military strike because serious negotiations were under way. He described the talks as a positive development.

Netanyahu, however, remains sceptical about the negotiations and wants to resume the war launched jointly at the end of February in order to further weaken Iran's military capabilities, the reports said.
