Donald Trump said that the FBI is “wasting its time” in investigating the sudden death of Senator Lindsey Graham.
Mr Graham died on Saturday (11 July) following a catastrophic medical emergency linked to heart disease.
FBI director Kash Patel said that federal agents would be assisting local authorities, and, on Monday (13 July), agents were spotted searching Mr Graham’s home.
Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office on Tuesday (14 July), the US president said that he wished Mr Graham “took better care of himself” as he discussed the late senator’s health.
The 71-year-old Republican died from an aortic rupture caused by hardened arteries, the Medical Examiner of the District of Columbia concluded in a preliminary report.
“ I think the FBI is wasting their time,” Mr Trump said.
