- US Magistrate Judge Enjolique Lett has warned Donald Trump that his $10 billion (£7.5 billion) defamation lawsuit against the BBC could be dismissed unless he hands over requested legal documents by 23 November.
- The Florida court voiced serious concerns over how Trump's legal team collated paperwork, ordering him to produce a full list of documents withheld under privilege by 5 November or face sanctions including case dismissal.
- The legal action centres on a 2024 BBC Panorama documentary about the US Capitol riots, which the broadcaster admitted contained an error of judgment in its editing that gave the impression Trump called for violent action.
- The BBC is urging the court to throw out the lawsuit due to extreme prejudice caused by Trump's discovery delays, whilst also challenging the Florida court's jurisdiction over a programme never broadcast in the state.
- Judge Lett has separately ordered the US president to give a deposition under oath by 11 December, after his legal team cancelled an earlier interview date to campaign ahead of the mid-term elections.
