- President Donald Trump has praised the “great hero” who stopped the shooter at Silver Rail Elementary School in Bend, Oregon, on Thursday.
- A 16-year-old gunman opened at the school, killing three students and one teacher before Kaylub Giamanco, the father of two students at the school, chased him down and shot him dead.
- Giamanco's mother, Kenda Freeman, issued a statement saying that her son is not seeking recognition and expressed his gratitude to first responders.
- Trump praised Giamanco at the White House Friday, saying he is a “great hero” who “took care of business.”
- “It’s a terrible thing, but thank goodness for a man that had a gun and knew how to use it,” Trump told reporters, adding the tragedy could have been much worse if not for Giamanco's bravery.
