Despite statements to the contrary from Iran, US President Donald Trump said that negotiations between Washington and Tehran are ongoing.

"Fake News Reports that the Islamic Republic of Iran, and the U.S.A., stopped speaking a few days ago are false and erroneous," the US president wrote on his Truth Social Platform on Tuesday.

"The conversations between us have been going on continuously, including four days ago, three days ago, two days ago, one day ago, and today," Trump claimed.

"Where they lead, one never knows, but as I told Iran, It’s time, one way or another, for you to make a Deal."

"You’ve been doing this for 47 years, and it cannot be allowed to go on any longer!” Trump wrote, alluding to the 1979 revolution in which the Iranian monarchy was replaced by the Islamic Republic.

Prior to Trump’s post, the Iranian news agency Fars, which is close to the powerful Revolutionary Guards, had reported that no talks had taken place between Tehran and Washington for several days.

The Iranian agency Tasnim had issued a similar report on Monday, attributing the end of the indirect negotiations to Israel’s ongoing war against the pro-Iranian Hezbollah militia in Lebanon.
