- Andrews, a pediatrician and mother who is not transgender, is running against Republican candidate Darline Graham to fill the vacancy left by the late Sen. Lindsey Graham.
- Trump falsely claimed Andrews supports transgender policies for everyone, open borders, defunding the police, and confiscating guns.
- Andrews responded to the attack by focusing her campaign message on lowering costs and supporting families across South Carolina.
- Prominent figures, including former South Carolina Governor David Beasley and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, condemned Trump's comments as abhorrent and despicable.
