President Donald Trump has revealed why his wife, Melania Trump, did not join him on his trip to Ireland.
The US president drew laughter as he explained the first lady’s absence while speaking at the US ambassador’s residence.
Mr Trump said Melania had told him the seven-hour flight was too long, saying that “maybe, I’m not that friendly”.
He said he responded: “Put on a Make America Great Again hat and come on, let’s go.”
Mr Trump added that she has sent her regards.
The president is on a two-day visit to Ireland and is due to travel across the country to his golf resort in Doonbeg, Co Clare, which is hosting the Irish Open.
