- Donald Trump was interrupted by a protester shortly after taking the podium at a South Carolina rally for Sen. Darline Graham on Thursday. While the protester was escorted out, Trump quickly ripped into his repeated transphobic slurs toward Annie Andrews, a Democrat running against Graham.
- At least half a dozen times, Trump referred to Andrews, who is not transgender, as “Tra**y Annie.”
- "Oh, let's vote for Tra**y Annie; she's wonderful. You can't do it. We can't have Tra**y Annie. If you have one or two victories, you're going to have Communists in control of the U.S. Senate,” Trump said.
- Graham also did not hold back during her speech, using an expletive to blast her Democratic rival. “I am a proud conservative Christian who will fight every single day for your family,” Graham said. “Or Democrat Annie Andrews, the most radical liberal candidate ever to run for office in the history of South Carolina. Like they say out in the country, she’s just plain old bat s*** crazy.”
- The New York Times/Siena University poll, released Wednesday, shows both candidates with 48 percent support among likely voters in South Carolina — which has not elected a Democrat to the upper chamber of Congress since 1998.
