Donald Trump’s pick for the Director of National Intelligence remained silent when he was asked who won the 2020 election.
On Wednesday (15 July), Jay Clayton testified before the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence for his confirmation hearing.
During the two-hour-long hearing, Mr Clayton repeatedly refused to answer who won the 2020 election, despite Georgia Sen. Jon Ossoff telling him that he has an “obligation to be honest with the committee”.
Mr Clayton then decided to sit in silence, as Mr Ossoff chastised him: “Isn’t it humiliating to be unable to answer this question? To have to indulge the president’s delusions?”
He later stated: “I am not an election denier. Joe Biden was certified.”
